Lots of progress happening at our Carlaw project! 🏗️ The foundation is complete, and our major structural steel beam is now in place—spanning the full width of the addition. By eliminating the need for a center post, we’ve created a cleaner, more open layout while making the installation process a little smoother for the team. 🔩📐

Today, the crew is installing floor joists from the steel beam to the new foundation wall, building out the subfloor structure for the addition. Once the joists are in, we’ll be sheathing the floor over the next day or so, giving us a solid platform to continue construction. 🔨🪵

After that, it’s back into the existing home to continue with steel installation, framing, and sistering work on the second floor. Every step is focused on keeping the structure strong, level, and secure as we move this project upward. Exciting times ahead! 💪🚀

One of our favorite parts of working on these century-old homes is uncovering how they were built and finding ways to improve them for the next 100 years. 🏡🔨 Today, the team is preparing for a major structural upgrade—a large steel beam installation that will replace an old wood beam hanging nearly 10 inches below the ceiling. 📐⚙️

Before the steel goes in, there’s a lot of work behind the scenes. We’re supporting the structure, triple-checking measurements, and carefully preparing the existing framing. Over the next day or two, we’ll install the flush steel beam, opening up the space and creating a much cleaner ceiling line. 💪🏗️

Once that’s complete, we’ll move into restructuring the main floor, sistering joists, and reinforcing the framing throughout. It’s a ton of work, but these are the details that make a huge difference in the finished home. Stay tuned! 🚀✨
