Mark worked as a General Contractor on major home renovations, additions and new home construction.

We are a comprehensive team of professionals that provides clients with a full turn-key home or we can offer the particular expertise required for a renovation project. Working with iBuild allowed Mark to hone his knowledge of new homes and renovated construction projects. After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, Aron learned the craft of designing. His architectural passion is designing ecologically sensitive spaces.

"Use a designer if you can." That's always Mark's first piece of advice. 🎨

But he also knows not every project has room in the budget for one. So a lot of the time, Mark meets clients at the showroom himself and walks them through it.

This week he's back at Stone Tile in Toronto showing a few of the looks he keeps coming back to:
🤍 Stone and travertine looks for a spa-style ensuite (one of his favourites)
🟩 Glossy handmade-style tile in fun colours for a kids' bathroom
🖤 An onyx-look feature wall. He just did one behind a freestanding tub, with white on the other walls, and it really stood out.
🏛️ Real marble in herringbone or 6x6 squares for the front entrance. It's gorgeous, but it costs more and needs more care, and there are great porcelain options too.

A lot of older Toronto homes have the same problem: the basement is big, but the ceiling is too low to use.

This one is in Forest Hill (our fourth project on the same street), and the plan is a golf simulator, a home gym and a glass w**e cellar.
To get there, we're underpinning: digging beneath the original foundation one section at a time and pouring new footings deeper, so the finished rooms get real ceiling height. Meanwhile, the rest of the house stays completely sealed off from the dust.

The renderings show where it's headed. We'll share the reveal when it's done.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Wexler Custom Builders. 🍂

No matter how big the house is, every holiday seems to end the same way: everyone crowded around the kitchen island, picking at the turkey before it hits the table.

It's one of the reasons we design kitchens the way we do. We think about where people will stand, where they'll sit, and how the cook moves through the room when it's full.

This year we're especially grateful to the families who let us build their homes, and to the trades and partners who show up every day to make it happen.

Which one are you this year? And be honest, which one is your neighbour?

Would you believe that wall isn't marble? 😮

Mark stopped by Stone Tile, one of our go-to suppliers here in Toronto, to show a few of the porcelain slabs we've been putting into custom homes. The purple-veined one is Laminam Calacatta Viola, and it's been one of the most popular looks of the past couple of years.

The reason we love these slabs is simple. You get the look of natural stone without the upkeep. The slabs are huge, so there are hardly any grout lines to clean. They're durable, and they don't need the sealing and babying that real marble does. We've used them on full bathroom walls, showers, feature walls and even millwork.

And travertine is officially back! 🤍

Most people start thinking about a pool in the spring. By then it's usually too late for that summer.

This week we're partway through a full backyard project behind a classic red-brick home in Toronto: a new concrete pool, a new pool deck, and new landscaping that runs all the way to the front walk. We kept the same pavers from front to back so the whole property looks like one design instead of a bunch of separate projects.

The part nobody sees is what lasts: a properly compacted gravel base under every paver so nothing sinks or heaves after a Toronto winter.

If we build it now, the family is swimming on the first hot weekend next year. We'll share the reveal when it's done.
