Stacking ICF blocks is the easy part.
It’s the reinforcement and concrete pour that require an expert.

But That’s Not How We’ve Always Done Things!

If you’re looking to innovate, then you’re looking to change the way things are. If you’re looking to innovate then you have to be willing to destroy antiquated methodologies that no longer have any place in the present, let alone the future.

ICF has been around for along time, but many people are still wary of it since it’s not the way most residential structures are built. However, things are changing. Over the last year the construction industry has experienced lumber shortages and lumber price increases that made wood very expensive. This shortage and price increase has forced many contractors to look at alternatives, such as ICF. Now, ICF is a fantastic product, but it does required a different sort of specialist than building from wood. It requires a steady hard, extensive concrete pouring experience and years or ICF construction to do it right.

If you want to explore something new and different look out for contractors who respond with “But that’s not how we’ve always done things!” when you suggest trying something new.

Contact our team today, and let’s talk about ICF, we’ve been doing it since the early 2000’s.

What is Amdeck?

Amdeck is a horizontal ICF system which allows for the construction of concrete floors, ceilings and roofs to maximize the home’s durability, longevity and energy efficiency.

Ok so how does Amdeck improve a home’s durability, longevity and energy efficiency?

To get an understanding how that’s accomplishes let’s first take a look at how Amdeck is assembled.

1. C-Channels are placed 16” apart on top of the vertical ICF blocks, post concrete pour
2. Amdeck blocks are placed on top of the C-channels.
3. Once the Amdeck blocks are secured, rebar is placed within the voids and on top of the blocks.
4. Bracing is required from the bottom of the blocks to support the weight of concrete during the pour and while the concrete is curing.
5. When the concrete is cured, the bottom bracing is removed and you’ve got yourself an insulated concrete floor/ceiling assembly that can span over really large spaces with no posts or columns.
6. Services can be run anywhere within the assembly where there’s no concrete, and with a 12” styrofoam depth, you’ve got a lot of room to run services.
7. Once all the service runs are complete drywall is mounted to the bottom of the Amdeck, into the build-in furring strips
8. The flooring is installed onto the floor topping.

The finished concrete floor assembly further reinforces the the ICF walls by turning the entire structure in a single monolithic insulated structure.
