Diversity in thought, background and life experience are deeply woven into who we are as an organization. We value these different points of view as they are what provide the insights necessary to drive innovation and break free from convention. At Govan Brown, differences don’t divide, they are celebrated.

We’re back in action and thrilled to be helping our community once again. Our employees got their hands dirty cleaning out and maintaining the garden and greenhouse for The Stop Community Food Centre. The Stop is a local community food centre that provides access to healthy food for low income Torontonians and with the help of volunteers, are able to grow their own produce to help feed the community. Since the pandemic, food insecurity has been on the rise and we hope to help minimize the impact in our local communities by providing donations of food, financial support, and by volunteering for causes that matter to us.

Yesterday we made our MARK in the community!

Govan Brown is excited to reveal our mural dedicated to those who have struggled in life, especially in the LGBTQ2S+ community. Pride month should not only be a reason to celebrate our differences but also used as a platform to educate on the importance of diversity. equity, and inclusion in our communities. Special shout outs go to our amazing and talented artists Alex Bacon, Luvz and Wolfaz, as well as our staff who identify as LGBTQ2S+ who were vital throughout the planning process and helped create the inspiration behind this work of art.

Staying active is more fun when you’re outdoors with family. Govan Brown participated in the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s annual (virtual) Ride For Heart event on Sunday, June 6th and over 30 GB employees and their families from across Canada got outside to walk, cycle, hike, and kayak a combined 951 km and raised $12K towards the Heart & Stroke Foundation. A spectacular group effort, we not only reached our goal of 500 km but exceeded it by an additional 451 km. We want to thank everyone who participated and donated – we couldn’t have done this without you.

Life at work can become overwhelming, often pushing the significance of eating to the end of our “to-do” lists. Mental health is much more complex now, and nutrition is thought to be as important to mental health as it is to heart health.

It is estimated that 1 in 5 Canadians experience mental health problems per year. Depression, mood disorders, and anxiety are a few areas that proper nutrition can help with.
