When you hire a designer, you’re not paying for design, décor, drawings, or renderings. You’re paying for an insurance that the money you invest in your renovation will be spent wisely, with no regrettable mistakes you’ll have to live with for the next decade.

Design is not decorating.

Why We Don’t Like Classic Doors

Let me be honest with you: we believe classic doors often ruin modern interiors. Here is why.

Well, it is simply ugly.
Of course, beauty is subjective. But paneled doors and ornate detailing belong to a very different era. In modern homes and apartments, they often feel out of place and visually disconnected from the rest of the space.

They take away from the space.
Classic doors with wide casings break up the walls visually and can make ceilings feel lower. In a compact home, they often make the interior feel smaller, heavier, and more cluttered.

They require the right architectural context.
Classic design depends on precise proportions, strong symmetry, and well structured architectural modules. Most standard modern homes simply do not have that foundation. As a result, what is meant to look luxurious often ends up looking like a cheap imitation.

What is the solution?
In our view, the best modern interiors are built on clean lines and uninterrupted surfaces. That is why we almost always prefer concealed doors. They blend into the architecture, make the space feel larger, and look unapologetically expensive

A refined expression of quiet luxury

Our latest furnishing project for a contemporary private residence in Downtown Toronto reflects a disciplined minimalist approach and careful material selection.

The interior features Poliform furniture, selected for its architectural clarity, structural precision, and understated elegance, creating a balanced dialogue between form and function.

Huge thanks to our incredible partners who brought this project to life:

Quiet luxury in our new private home furnishing project near University of Toronto. A true European minimalist interior with gentle Japanese-inspired details and a calm Canadian sensibility. Poliform is one of our favorite European furniture brands, so working with it on this project was a real pleasure.

We would like to express special thanks to Tulika Datta for her patience and professionalism throughout our collaboration on this project.

With appreciation to everyone involved:
•Poliform for providing the furniture
•Colli Models for supporting the production
•Ana Polana for her amazing vision and project documentation
