Happy Lunar New Year!

One thing I love about plants is how deeply they are woven into cultural traditions. There is always something new to learn.

Today marks the start of the Year of the Horse, so here are a few things that make this Lunar New Year especially meaningful.

The horse represents forward momentum, so I hope this year brings you fresh energy and exciting new opportunities. Wishing you a strong start to the season and a successful year ahead.
1. The 60 year rarity
We celebrate a Year of the Horse every 12 years, but the Fire Horse appears only once every 60 years. The zodiac animals cycle through five elements, and 2026 is when the Horse aligns with Fire again, last seen in 1966.
2. Double Fire energy
The Horse is already associated with Fire, so a Fire year creates what is often called Double Fire energy.
The vibe is fast paced, intense, and full of movement. If last year felt slow or introspective, this year is about momentum and finally moving forward.
3. A year of bold moves
The Fire Horse is known for being unrestrained and independent. Traditionally, this cycle favors major breakthroughs, breaking free from old habits, and making decisive moves rather than waiting for the perfect moment.
4. Red Horse symbolism
You will see a lot of Red Horse imagery this year. Red is always a lucky Lunar New Year color, and it also reflects the heat and passion of this particular 60 year cycle.

Pro tip. With all this high energy, some traditions suggest balancing all that fire with calm and restorative moments so you do not burn out too early in the year.

Wishing everyone a year full of growth, movement, and good fortune. 🧧🐎

This week we received an amazing new dracaena straight from Florida. Had a few FaceTime calls to help people shop without heading outside into the polar vortex. Checked out in search of inspiration for 2026. Created a quick video about what’s in store from our most recent restock.

See you next week. What else would you like to see?
