Agora Yorkville’s interior offers a contemporary and fresh take on one of Toronto’s favourite neighbourhood spots. Continuing a partnership established with our design of the original Mamakas Taverna on Ossington Ave. (2014), and consulting on the first Agora grab-and-go location on Queen St. W. (2018), DesignAgency was commissioned again by Mamakas Food Group to create interiors for its fifth location. Our concept for the new casual dining Agora location on Scollard St. blends a Mediterranean-inspired palette of neutral wood tones and white stone with timeless finishes, and custom millwork and lighting to create a space that is reminiscent of a local café in Athens.
A custom curved banquette seamlessly transitions into product display shelving finished in light oak, while warmth is introduced through cognac faux leather upholstery and walnut-toned chairs
with woven rattan seats.
Plenty of custom retail display was incorporated into the interior to showcase the owner’s olive oil products from Greece. Carrara marble counters and tabletops, hand-painted graphic murals by artist Tisha Myles, and antiqued mirror along the walls are recognizable design features that are characteristic of the original Agora on Queen St. W., while
custom scalloped brass pendant lights by Milke Bau add an artful touch.
Overall, the interior design feels bright, airy, and warm, and reinforces the Mamakas design language rooted in a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean charm.
