PSA:
Last week, one of our trucks was vandalized and our employees were attacked at a local gas station here in Timmins — in broad daylight at 8:00 in the morning. Our windshield and mirrors were smashed, and our staff were put in a dangerous situation that no one should ever face while simply trying to do their jobs. To make matters worse, just two days after this attack, the same individual went on to vandalize other vehicles again. This is exactly the problem people in Timmins are frustrated with — repeat offenders continuing to terrorize businesses and residents while nothing seems to change.
The level of violence, vandalism, drug activity, and public disorder in Timmins is becoming unacceptable, and many residents and business owners no longer feel safe in their own community.
Walk through parts of downtown Timmins today and you’ll see plywood covering broken windows, bars installed on storefronts, and businesses constantly repairing damage just to STAY OPEN. This is not the kind of city people want to live or invest in.
Let’s be clear: this is not about blaming every homeless or vulnerable person. Many people genuinely need help, treatment, housing, and support. But our city is clearly struggling with serious issues involving addiction, mental health, repeat offenders, and a complete lack of accountability.
For years, citizens have been forced to tolerate RISING crime, vandalism, break-ins, open drug use, public disorder, and constant damage to private property — while politicians continue to offer excuses, studies, and empty promises. Local businesses and hardworking citizens are paying the price while the same destructive behaviour continues without consequences.
Posters/Decals on plywood won’t fix this problem. Residents are tired of symbolic gestures and political talking points while businesses, workers, and families continue to deal with the real consequences every single day.
We need new leadership in this city. Leadership that will put public safety first, support law enforcement, protect local businesses, and stop allowing repeat offenders and open drug activity to destroy our community.
Enough is enough. 🎤🫳🏻
