After over 45 years of working in Masonry and construction, the founder, father, and heart of our company has retired. Roger Guillemette has been involved in construction projects all over Timmins, the north and southern Ontario. If you live in Timmins, you almost certainly have been in a building that Roger has had a hand in constructing or repairing. After learning masonry from his father, he was able to pass down his knowledge and experience to his sons Kevin Guillemette and Jeffrey Guillemette who now proudly own and manage the company he built. And although Guillemette Masonry has expanded and now in addition to masonry does general construction and carpentry, we remain focused on what Roger taught us: Quality, Integrity, and most of all Pride in your work. And we do!

If you know Rog, if you've worked with him, comment and wish him well in his retirement. We think he's earned it.

Interesting fact: In 1721 in Montreal after The Great Fire that destroyed much of the city, a new law was enacted that prohibited new wood constructions inside the city limits.

Great idea in our opinion! Montreal now has unbelievable beautiful stone and brick buildings to boast.

A few years ago, I went on a stove building mission with this organization and learned of the important work they do in Guatemala.

The Guatemala Stove Project was founded in response to an identified need for masonry cook stoves in the Mayan villages of the Guatemalan Altiplano (Western Highlands). These subsistence farmers lack the material resources to build them for themselves.

Cross section of a limestone wall that's been cut through. Each stone on the outside face has been carved smooth into blocks using hand chisels. And this wall is nearly 2 feet thick of solid masonry. So much hard work went into this.
