From trade school to leading crews on site, Derek has built his career on hard work, consistency, and a passion for the craft.
After starting in the trades program at Confederation College, he’s spent the last 11 years developing his skills, with the past 4 years as a key part of the SRL team. Today, he’s one of our most dependable foreman.
Framing is where Derek thrives. It’s the part of the job he enjoys most and where his experience really shows.
As a foreman, he takes pride in keeping projects running smoothly — making sure work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standard.
What he enjoys most about working at SRL is the variety. Every project is different, bringing new challenges that keep the work engaging. Being part of our local carpenters union also provides him strong support through training, benefits, and long-term security.
Outside of work, Derek spends his time camping, fishing, golfing (he’ll tell you he shoots a 120), and learning French. On site, you’ll find him with his DeWalt tools, leading from the front.
