Biometrics:
The use of Biometrics has increased several times over the past few years. One of the most important uses is being able to read a person’s temperature without having to make everyone line up and look into a tablet’s camera mounted on a kiosk. Modern systems can read multiple individuals’ temperature’s simultaneously from a distance, therefore not inconveniencing anyone at all. All this can be done without anyone even noticing that it is taking place. If someone is found to have a high temperature, then an alert can be sent to notify the individuals you choose in a way that works best for you. Temperatures can be taken at multiple locations, numerous times a day giving you real-time updates. An added benefit of a Biometric Temperature camera is that it also doubles as a regular camera and can record video as a regular camera would with the added temperature readings attached.
In addition, you could tie in Biometrics to your Card Access system, then you would be able to take temperature readings from the camera and when someone has been detected with a fever then doors can be automatically locked keeping the individual out until proper staff can be notified and attend.
Another useful Card Access control tie in is when the Biometrics system scans individual faces and someone who is authorized to access a designated area makes an attempt to enter that area by reaching for a door then the Biometrics system can unlock that door for them automatically. It’s nice when the President of your company comes by for a visit and the doors recognize them and unlocks automatically.
If you don’t want biometric cameras installed, then there are still other options that will give your company higher levels of security. A Biometric card reader can be used to provide an extra layer of security when accessing sensitive areas of your building by requiring a fingerprint scan as well as the access card. If an employee’s access card had been lost or stolen, the trespasser would still not have access to controlled areas.
