Sometimes using a foam pan for a shower isn't the right option. This is one of those times. We filled the opening with a mortar and used a schluter drain. After this everything will be waterproofed and tiled. The other day we floated the low spots out of this floor to prepare it for infloor heat and tiles.

Today I stopped by a partial bathroom reno we completed, unfortunately I don't have more than one picture of the original bathroom, but it had a tiny 3x3 shower insert. We opened up the left hand side wall and made it into a knee wall, then we pushed the back wall back by 16 inches to enlarge the shower, Young Electric added some pot lights, wiring for a light up mirror, and replaced the exhaust fan, and Lowes glass supplied and installed the glass for us. Jesse from homegrown construction and his crew took care of the demo, framing in the new shower space, painting, and removing the in swing door to install a pocket door.

Also the shower floor was wet in the picture and in the process of drying

We were asked to come and finish this bathroom renovation. This shower came out so nice. Unfortunately we had to use the drains location and we're able to open the floor to move it.
The shower floor tiles are a recycled glass tile that one of our suppliers just started to carry, the wall tiles will look familiar to anyone who follows our page.

It surprises me how many installers still won't use a levelling clip system. Modern tiles aren't always flat. Walls aren't flat, you mix the two together like this shower and you start to deal with some interesting problems. Ripping apart an existing wall to fix it isn't always an option either.
This shows how well these systems work to make everything nice and flat.
That being said they aren't fool proof and you need to understand how these systems work and the effect they have on the area being tiled.
