Made some Elderberry syrup using Red Elderberry flowers. All the recipes said not to use Red Elderberry flowers because they stink! But I did it anyways since 1. I was curious, 2. I don't think they stink, 3. Red Elderberry is the only wild kind around here. I'm so glad I took the chance because it's lovely...I added zest & juice of two lemons. Floral and bright! 'ots

Phew! Successful and busy afternoon putting second supers on 7/8 colonies. Cleaned bottom boards off of all the winter...

Phew! Successful and busy afternoon putting second supers on 7/8 colonies. Cleaned bottom boards off of all the winter debris. Bees are looking goooooood. Bringing in lots of pollen and nectar. I don't feed my bees any syrup in Spring, so they build up naturally with Nature's abundance (when it arrives) and eat up whatever reserves are left in their hive from Winter.
