If you're up in Northern BC this coming June - the Chetwynd Chainsaw Carving event is worth a visit!

Carver announcement today belongs to this very laid back and easy going but super talented gentleman who will be representing for Canada!! Roderick Brown has competed a few times here at our annual competition proving each time he deserves the invite each and every time!!! We look forward to seeing what you create this year in June !!!

Apologies to anyone who ended up with sawdust in their beer this weekend, and thanks to all that stopped by to say hi. I had a great time digging the Friar and his trophy out of that beautiful spruce log. I'll get a couple more shots when it's all oiled up later in the week.

This past weekend I had the privilege of being a part of the annual Chetwynd Carving Championship. Absolutely everything about this event is 'top shelf'. Over the course of the 4 day event I met so many kind, generous and hilarious folks. Thanks to all of the hardworking people of Chetwynd who make this event happen. A tip-of-the-toque to all of my fellow carvers and assistants for the creation of their unique and powerful wood sculptures. Today, I'm feeling a little sore but incredibly inspired and full of gratitude for this unforgettable experience!

I tried something a little different with these bigger bowls/ vessels last month. They're the first of a new series, Through Trees. Both are made out of western red cedar, painted with milk paint and finished with walnut oil/ beeswax. Beeswax is amazing - a great satin look to the finish, amazing to touch and with the cedar, you can beat the smell.

These two are available - they're up on my Etsy store (www.etsy.com/ca/shop/cohowood) and on my newly updated website (cohowood.com).

All of my pieces will now be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. If you have purchased a piece of mine in the past and would like one - just send me an e-mail and we'll get one on it's way to you, as well. Thanks for your continued support of my work.

A couple new ones from last week. Thanks for looking and all the best in 2018.

I'm especially appreciative of the local folks who continue to support my work. Here's a coho with the design work depicting the landscape of a favorite Skeena fishing hole. Thanks for looking!

Figuring it out standing on the ground in the carving shed is always better than trying to do it hanging off a ladder with everyone watching 😉 .
Truth be told, there were still a few trips up and down the ladder on the actual install, but it could have been worse. There are a few more critters to join these guys over the next couple weeks.
