Two weeks on site at the Salvation Army Food Bank, and I've seen two things I won't forget.
The first is how many people in our community depend on this place. The second is how many people show up to make sure it's there for them.
My dad told me once that you never give someone an empty wallet as a present. I've carried that with me, and it's why I wasn't going to hand over this cooler empty.
Our friends at Treen's Meats worked with us to stock it with a whole lot of chicken, donated by Sletten Contracting and Treen's together.
Then Danny at H5 went above and beyond. Pizza slices, frozen bread and dough, lasagnas, chicken wings, desserts. He wouldn't take a dime for any of it.
And a big thank you to Pioneer Co-op, who helped out like they always do. They're a regular donor to the food bank, and that kind of consistency matters more than people realize.
If you've ever wondered whether your donation makes a difference, I can tell you from standing in that cooler: it does.
