Rained out today.

Two rental machines parked in a side yard, waiting on the weather. A Kubota and a New Holland. Both good machines. Neither one is a Caterpillar.

Someday there’ll be a Cat in the fleet. Today is not that day. Today we watch it rain.

Small machine. Big hole.

Foundation waterproofing underway — Blueskin going on, water staying out. The 0.8 excavator from Core Rentals doesn’t look like much, but neither does shovelling for three days, which is the alternative.

“What’s the most exciting part of construction?”

Window well waterproofing. Obviously.

Blueskin on the wall. Well mounted. Caulk where the steel meets the membrane. Crushed rock in the bottom so water drains instead of moving into your basement rent-free.

The manufacturer says caulk-to-concrete is fine. We disagree, quietly, with a membrane.

Here’s the thing about most of what we do: nobody will ever see it. It gets buried, backfilled, drywalled over, or shingled on top of. The majority of our best work is invisible within 48 hours.

The goal is that you never think about this window well again for the rest of your life. You’re welcome in advance.

August in Saskatchewan. Perfect temperatures, clear skies, and this view from the ridge. It doesn’t get better.

Another roof done — IKO Dynasty, a Class 3 impact-rated shingle. Heavy, thick, built to take a beating. This homeowner has a roof that will serve them for decades.

Next up: IKO Nordic — the only shingle in the lineup with a Class 4 rating, the highest there is. To earn it, a shingle has to take a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet without splitting. After this summer’s hail, some homeowners want exactly that — and we’ve put plenty of Nordic roofs on to prove it.
