Congratulations 💐to the INSPIRE EVENT / Inspire Dance Academy team for putting together a sold-out Dandiya Dhoom 2026 at the Cloverdale Agriplex in Surrey!
Bringing the "Queen of Dandiya," award winning - Falguni Pathak, to Metro Vancouver for her live performance in the area was a major milestone for the local South Asian community. Pulling off a sold-out Janmashtami Mohotsav celebration with thousands in attendance requires incredible effort, coordination, and vision.
Kudos to the entire production crew, organizers, and volunteers for setting a high standard for cultural events in British Columbia.

A heartfelt congratulations to the United Indian Culture Association (UNICA) and the Indo-Pacific Foundation of Canada (IPFC) for organizing such a spectacular event.

It was incredible to see the community come together and enjoy vibrant cultural performances showcasing India’s rich heritage, traditions, music, and diversity. The spectacular parade truly captured the spirit of Unity in Diversity. 🇮🇳❤️🇨🇦

🇦🇫 Afghanistan’s 107th Independence Day Celebration💐

It was an honour to attend the 107th Afghanistan Independence Day Celebration, hosted by the Afghan National Culture Society (ANCS) at Holland Park in Surrey, BC, 🇨🇦 Canada.

The celebration brought together elected representatives, Members of Parliament, MLAs, municipal councillors, community leaders, professionals, public officials, educators, health officials, law-enforcement representatives, members of the Afghanistan General Council, and distinguished guests from across our community.

Chairman Hameed Khan Wafa delivered meaningful remarks highlighting the importance of preserving Afghanistan’s rich history, culture, traditions, and national identity for future generations.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for Afghan Canadians and friends of the Afghan community to come together in a spirit of cultural pride, friendship, unity, and cooperation. It also highlighted the valuable contributions Afghan Canadians continue to make to the social, cultural, economic, and civic life of British Columbia and Canada.

Congratulations to the Afghan National Culture Society for organizing such a meaningful celebration and for its continued commitment to preserving Afghan heritage while strengthening connections with the wider Canadian community.

Congratulations to Mike Hurley on the opening of his election campaign office in Metrotown.

Mike Hurley has achieved a great deal as Mayor of Burnaby — delivering new housing, securing protections for renters, investing in major community infrastructure, and maintaining a strong financial foundation for the city.

First elected Mayor in 2018 and acclaimed for a second term in 2022, Mike is now seeking a third term to continue building a stronger, more vibrant, and inclusive Burnaby.

I am truly honoured and humbled by this recognition. Over the years, it has been a privilege to contribute to Surrey by helping attract visitors, generate business, promote our great city, and create meaningful experiences for residents and guests alike.

A heartfelt Congratulations to Moti Johal on being recognized for his extraordinary bravery after heroically rescuing a young child from oncoming traffic in Surrey.

His courage, quick thinking, and willingness to act in a critical moment are a true reflection of selflessness, compassion, and community spirit. Moti’s heroic actions remind us of the important role everyday citizens can play in protecting others during emergencies.
