Meet Riley, a Site Super at Chase Contracting.

When asked what he enjoys most about his role, he stated "helping the crew succeed."

"Seeing everyone understanding their role, working safely, and taking pride in the finished product is rewarding."

He ensures the team feels supported and contributes to creating a culture of accountability within Chase Contracting.

The transition from Carpenter to Site Super meant changing his mindset from having to be the one completing the work to learning to delegate to the team.

"I have learned that strong leadership isn't about being the hardest worker, but about trusting the team, by giving clear direction, and allowing others to grow."

Growing a business starts the same way you learn a trade - by learning from those who have been there.

I learned most of what I know the same way many trade apprentices do, by watching, listening, and working alongside someone who'd done it all before. In my case, that "someone" was my Dad.

Over the years he has helped me out by working on site, teaching me about pricing, and is still a sounding board when I need to talk about tilt logistics.

I use much of what I've learned from him to become the business owner and leader that I am today.

Earlier this week WorkSafeBC conducted an inspection of our site.

We were pleased to hear that the team's efforts to ensure a safe working environment were recognized and that no orders were given.

We're proud of the culture of safety that we've built and maintain and thank each team member for their contributions to this effort.
