We are home after being evacuated for 11 days.
The gardens are lush, blooming and buzzing with bees. Watered some plants, filled the birdbaths and took down my laundry that was still hanging.
I grew up in Summerland. My kids grew up in Summerland. I ran a daycare in my home for 17 years that had a total of 77 kids go through it. I have been a volunteer at the Summerland Auxiliary thrift store for 12 years. I have run my greenhouse and gardening business here for the last 10 years. I lived in Faulder for 2 years. I know a lot of people in Summerland.
I have messaged over a dozen people so far I know personally as friends and clients that have lost their homes. I want to help. I have records of every single plant order everyone of you has ever placed. So next spring, when the time comes, all the vegetables, fruits, herbs, lettuces, any food related plants you've ever bought from me in the past will be given to you for free. You can simple place your order as usual and I will cover 100% of the cost.
I have sadly lost a couple thousand potted perennial plants due to them not being watered the last 11 days. All my inventory of potted perennials for this year and next year's plants sales are gone. It is going to take me a lot of time and work to build up any sort of inventory again. I was in the middle of redoing my backyard and had dug up tons of perennials in my garden and potted them up for transplanting and those too are now gone. So I have a lot of work ahead of me before I can be up and running selling plants again. Hopefully comes together soon than I think!
As for gardenig services, I will not be asking the ladies to come back to work until the air quality gets better, however I need to work so I will be messaging my clients one by one to discuss a return date. I am 2 weeks behind schedule now and with just me working alone it will be a very slow start so please be patient with me.
I made a post when we were first evacuated. It is just below this one. Didn't have any gardening or greenhouse information, just a post regarding my personal situation. It was viewed 104,536 times. So maybe when the time comes, and people are ready for a new beginning and to bring new life back into their gardens I could take advantage of this audience to work together with others that would like to help too.
