Our team keeps growing!

Jazmin Martens and Kira Mass joined us a couple of weeks ago, but it already feels like they’ve been here much longer. They’ve been eager, quick to learn, and ready to jump in wherever needed.

We’ve just wrapped up a busy couple of weeks welcoming healthy, bouncing baby lambs. They’ve been taking great care of them and have stepped into their roles seamlessly.

Just as importantly, they’ve been a great fit with our team. Culture matters here, and they’ve integrated quickly. They’re also excited for the upcoming grazing season at Solar Sheep Inc., and there is plenty to do as we prepare for another season of solar grazing.

We’re also excited to welcome Tanita Kratzke
from Germany next month as she joins us to learn more about our Canadian farming operation.

We’re shaping up to have a stellar team of shepherds this year, and we’re very grateful for each of them. Welcome to the team ladies!

🍂 Fall Grazing at Capital Power Strathmore Solar 🍃

Fall brings big changes to the landscape and to the nutrition available in the forage. As temperatures drop and daylight shortens, plants slow their growth and begin to store energy in their roots. This means the forage becomes denser in fibre and lower in moisture, while still offering excellent nutrition for grazing sheep.

Thanks to the diversity of species beneath the panels and our managed grazing approach, there’s still plenty of green vegetation available. The sheep selectively graze the freshest growth, helping balance their diet as the season transitions and continuing to recycle nutrients back into the soil. We were fortunate to have our nutritionist complete a flock visit this week to provide feedback on our animals and forage availability. The sheep will remain on site until mid-November.

Each grazing rotation strengthens the vegetation, builds soil organic matter, and supports carbon capture; keeping both the land and the flock healthy as we move toward winter.

🐷☀️ We had an extra special surprise at Capital Power Strathmore Solar this week!

All of our kunekune piglets were born at home earlier this spring… or so we thought. Turns out this little gal and Boris decided they still needed a date … about 4 months ago 😉

Shepherd Gracie was greeted by a healthy litter of 5 piglets, happily soaking up the sunshine under the solar arrays and well-fed by mom. 🌱💚

Welcome to the world, little ones — the newest (and cutest) members of our grazing crew! 🐖✨
