This past Saturday was the anniversary of Ben Smith’s passing. It’s been 2 years now since the world lost this amazing person. He had been an integral part of Moore Painting and my right hand man for over 15 years. If there was ever a day or a project I couldn’t make it to, I could always count on him to take the helm and ensure things kept rolling. He was one of the kindest, most considerate and genuine human being’s I’ve ever known. We didn’t always agree or get along, but always managed to reconcile and put our differences aside. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of Ben. He taught me that family, love and kindness are the most important things in this world. Thank you Ben.

This past season we had the pleasure of working with our amazing clients for many years on their newly renovated, beautifully designed dining area, kitchen and mudroom. For the dining area and kitchen they went with a slightly lighter version of Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee for the walls, standard white for the ceilings and trims. The mudroom walls, in Dove Tale by Farrow & Ball.

Our clients decided to go with a combination of Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee and Tate Olive for the walls, then Edgecomb Gray on the doors and trims in their children’s bedroom. This two-tone design on the walls brings a certain playfulness to the space while still providing a certain sophistication. I think it’s a terrific idea that proves, with a little creativity, there’s always a way to create a look that the whole family can enjoy. What are your thoughts?

Tate Olive by Benjamin Moore is hands down my favourite green right now. It’s so versatile and looks absolutely stunning when paired with brass or gold.
