Thank you everyone who reached out during this difficult time, it truly did help me knowing I had peoples support to fight. Nurses, Drs, at Markham Stouffville were amazing. My apprentice Ray, my man, I cannot thank you enough for stepping up and keeping things rolling while I recover. Don't crash the Benz!
It happened with a simple knick on my finger on a clean piece of all-round, Thursday. By Sunday, Iโve got my own VIP room at MSH.
An extremely aggressive streptococcal infection that truthfully the hospital had NEVER seen. It started as a streptococcal & staphylococcus infection combined, after a few days the streptococcal just completely took over, doubled its antibodies with the staphylococcus and just wrecked havoc. Heading up my bloodstream for my heart. Once it hit my lymph nodes it was complete high alert. Talk of losing my hand. Arm. My only last resort, Vancomycin. Between this and cefazolin rotating intervenisly it finally cracked yesterday. Finally. Typically, Cefazolin for mild-severe infections is 250ml-1g every 6 hours. I'm on 2g every 8 hours. Vancomycin is exactly that. A last resort drug. This doesn't beat it? Well............
It's going to be a long road to recovery but I have homes to plumb, people in Stouffville to help, and a family to watch grow. I'm looking at life differently, you just never know. My wonderful wife came daily and my kids knew I was in the hospital but did not know how serious this was.
Everyone I have open or upcoming work with I'll do my best to keep going. This certainly threw a ๐ง into my schedule, thank you in advance for your understanding. Communication is key, please touch base if required! Iv for 7 more days at home. Than oral meds for 5 to keep fighting it. Thanks everyone I still have an uphill battle!
