Plumbing tip from your friends at Premium Plumbing!

I have been getting a lot of calls lately about gargling noises and sewer gas smell coming from people's showers and sinks.

The noise or smell indicates you have a clogged plumbing vent stack.

The plumbing vent stack is responsible for venting sewer gases through the roof of your house, as well as balancing atmospheric pressure and keeping your p-trap from getting sucked dry.

In winter, the stack can get clogged with snow and ice.

The fix is simple. Locate the stack on your roof and pour warm water down the stack.

This will free it from any blockage and debris and allow your plumbing to breathe properly.
