I will be at the St. John’s Etsy Market on Sunday, September 27. This will definitely not be the same old grind! Lot of great vendors and interesting items to catch your interest!
There will also be the usual bowls, rolling pins, mushrooms and little wooden trees. But you will have to come on Sunday to see them ;-)

Found these guys hanging around! I guess they are just waiting for the right season to roll around.

Last winter I stopped turning bowls and trees etc for a time and took a twelve week course in building a traditional Newfoundland Rodney. The course was given by the Wooden Boat Museum in Winterton. Jerome Canning ran the course and was assisted by Ken Snelgrove. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about boat building and its connection to the people of Newfoundland. I have included a few pictures of the boat, which still needs a few planks before it hits the water. There is also a photo of some thole pins that I turned for the boat and will deliver this weekend.

It was a great day today for the first day of the Merry Makers Market at the Quidi Vidi Village artisan studios. Thank you everyone who dropped by and supported your local vendors! We will all be there on Saturday from 10 to 4 for the last day of the market.
