Permanent anchors make it safe for everyone that needs to work off your roof. One issue I’ve seen is disposable anchors being used as permanent, which there is no adequate way to seal them and they are not rated for an extended period. I have literally pulled them out by hand in the past, so they certainly wouldn’t sustain a fall. It’s almost worse as it gives a false sense of security to the user making them less cautious since they are roped in!

Sometimes you just have to be creative!

This croquet ball was. Perfect fit down the clean out and directly into the perimeter drain. How long it was down there for? Who knows, but long enough to accumulate a bunch of debris.

The homeowner’s basement started flooding so we got called in to try and figure out the problem when I found this guy.

A little preparation, some pipe, rags and adhesive worked like a charm! Now clear and inspect the line.

Pipe inspections are extremely helpful in these situations 👏🏼

What is that small tank above the water heater?! Is a question I get asked a lot!

Many people don’t realize this small tank helps protect your entire plumbing system

When water heats up, it expands and that extra pressure has to go somewhere. Without an expansion tank, that pressure can slowly stress pipes, fittings, valves over time, or drip out of the temperature and pressure relief valve on your water heater making what looks like a leaking tank.

One of the most common mistakes I see is the tank left unsupported, hanging off the piping connection. Over time, that weight alone can add strain to the fittings.

Now, if an expansion tank fails, it can become waterlogged and significantly heavier, putting even more stress on the connection if it isn’t properly supported.

These expansion tank brackets are perfect for this application and orientation of your tank.

Hello everyone!

Just a heads up that due to downsizing last year and having a very large amount of gas appliances, particularly fireplaces, in the fall to service, we’re asking that you book a minimum of 1 year in advance for gas appliance servicing because once my allotted time for sed services is full, I’m full!

I’m saving space for emergencies and other services as well at that time of year, so there will be availability for other types of jobs. This is for gas maintenance only. Thank you so much and thank you to those who have already booked for 2026 and 2027!

You may remember my very first Impact Project, where I replaced a skylight and repaired a section of roof for the Tahouneys.

Linda, battling and surviving breast cancer, and Dan having an accident on a ladder which resulted in losing a leg, which in turn cost him his job. These life-changing events put extreme financial burden on this wonderful family.

I knew that their leak had to be fixed, but as soon as I stepped on that roof, I knew that it was beyond a small repair. A replacement was mandatory, and without thinking of finances, I said that we would do it. I did the first repair initially in order to tie them over for the season and made plans to do the full roof in a few months.

Linda was such a fighter, she was such a bright light and just the sweetest person. She called me her little angel. Between the time that I repaired the roof initially and had the full roof booked in, she fell ill, and it breaks my heart to say that she didn’t make it.

I don’t deal with this stuff very well and every bit of this shattered my heart….

Happy New Year everyone! Mary-Anne the owner and operator!

After almost 11 years as Westcom Plumbing and Gas Ltd. and downsizing the company last year. I decided to finally change the name of the business to The Lady Plumber Inc.

Thank you everyone for your continued support while we made this change and as always, we strive for the utmost quality and workmanship with affordable price points and a strong commitment to paying-it-forward in our community.

As we did scale back significantly, I have revamped the schedule to allow for emergency calls, but as the sole technician in the field and the lovely Melanie in the office, we do our best to get to everyone we can within a timely fashion However, if we can’t, we will do our best to provide you with a recommendation for someone who can.

We appreciate you all very much and wish you the best for 2026!

A trip to the Baja led me back to the foster home. This time I took a tour through the girls dormitory and found out that they only had two operating showers and one operating toilet. There’s 30 children at this foster home so you can imagine how difficult it would be with just a single toilet. It wasn’t the easiest to do the repairs this time as they were a bit more extensive than the previous, but we got another shower working and we replaced one toilet and repaired the remaining. I was so excited to see the kids again, but we did almost miss them because we were originally going to go on the Saturday, but a storm came through, which prevented us from going that day and with Sunday being the day that they attend church, we did almost miss them. Thankfully, we all made it happen and we got to spoil them with toys, new plumbing and get some much-needed smiles and hugs until the next time. Thank you CompanyCam for making this possible! Your company and team are truly amazing and we appreciate all that you do! •• Jo Dibblee
