✨ Soccer Community - we need your help!

A work bee is scheduled for Sunday May 4th from 1:00pm - 3:0pm to get the Esler Soccer Complex.

Our fields committee needs help getting the complex refreshed for the start of the season. We plan to:
- Paint the deck, railings, and signs
- W**d eat around buildings and fences
- Clean-up wood debris from the trail
- Clean the clubhouse and windows

If there is something on the list you can help us with, we hope to see you at Esler!

Sincere thank you to the amazing volunteers who spent endless time preparing for the season to begin so local youth can enjoy! And thank you in advance to all the volunteers and coaches for the season to come! Gridlock is happy to support in any way we can!

With the season starting this week - here's the layout of our fields!

We will have new on-field signs arriving soon, but for practices this week you can refer to this sign also located on the building above the Lake Ex Field and beside the Scotiabank Field (the spot that says "YOU ARE HERE" in the photo).

Thanks again to Gridlock Electric for investing in this sign last year for our members!

👋 Meet Alexandra, who is currently advancing her skills in Electrical Apprenticeship Level 2.

TRU: What inspired you to pursue a career as an electrician?
Alexandra: I had no idea what I wanted to do or what career I wanted to pursue, all I knew was I wanted to move up in the world. I was a pharmacy technician on the weekdays and started working weekends at a Mill on cleanup. I enjoyed working at the mill.

TRU: What would you say to other women interested in pursuing a career as an electrician?
A: It can be scary stepping into a field you know nothing about, or even if you do, it’s still a bit nerve-racking, but if I can do it, then I believe anyone can do it. If you’re passionate and are willing to learn, you won’t regret giving it a try. The wonderful thing about trades is you’re not stuck in one spot. There are so many varieties of electrical you can move on to, it’s worth it.

TRU: Anything else you'd like to share?
A: I’m very grateful for TRU listening to my story, and I hope that it can help women who aren’t sure what they want to do. I had no clue a few years ago, and here I am now, halfway through school and moving my way up in the world exactly like I wanted to. You can do it too!

Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who put so much work into the gala to raise very important funds for the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation! It was great to be able treat some of our incredible employees to a night out and I must say they clean up good 😊
