❤️🎙️ WHEN I SAY I’M GOING TO DO SOMETHING, I DO MY BEST TO FOLLOW THROUGH.

Last week I shared that Action Landscaping would be stepping up as a proud sponsor of the 88.1 myFM & 92.3 WOW FM Radiothon for local healthcare.

Well… our commercial is officially produced, and we’re hitting the radio! 📻💪🏿
I have to admit, hearing it for the first time was pretty special.

I’ve had people doubt me throughout my life. I’ve struggled. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve had to change things about myself, work on my health, change how I live, and learn some difficult lessons along the way.

But for the last 12–13 years, I’ve kept putting one foot in front of the other and building Action Landscaping.

Job by job. Customer by customer. Year after year.
And one thing I’ve learned is that words don't mean very much without actions behind them.

I talk a lot about family first and community always. Those aren't supposed to be slogans. They're values I want to live by.

Our community supported my little business when it was just getting started. People took chances on me. They hired us, referred us, recommended us, shared our work and helped Action Landscaping grow.

Now that I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to give something back, that's exactly what we're going to do. ❤️

We certainly haven't “made it.” I'm still working, learning, growing and trying to become a better businessman, father,
partner and person every day.

But I'm incredibly proud of how far we've come and even more grateful for the people who helped us get here!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾

What a beautiful time of year to slow things down, spend some quality time with the people we love, and reflect on just how much we truly have to be thankful for.

I HAVE A LOT TO BE THANKFUL FOR! ❤️

My beautiful little girl, my family, our health, the roof over our heads, the opportunities we've been given, and the incredible people who continue to support us along the way.

Life certainly isn't always easy. We all have our struggles, our challenges, and those days when it feels like everything is working against us.

But sometimes it's important to stop, look around, and appreciate just how blessed we really are.

Because the little things in life are often the BIGGEST blessings. 🙏🏾

🇨🇦🍁 HAPPY THANKSGIVING LONG WEEKEND FROM ACTION LANDSCAPING! 🍁🇨🇦

Well, it's Friday, and we're still at it!! 😂💪🏾

I've been fighting this nasty cold all week, but we're pushing through, getting things ready, and making sure everything is done properly before taking a much-needed Thanksgiving long weekend!

Today, I wanted to show everyone something extremely important that most homeowners never get to see.

🔥 GEOGRID REINFORCEMENT! 🔥

And believe me, there's a reason we're talking about this!

Over the years, Action Landscaping has been called in to repair, lift, relay, and completely rebuild projects originally installed by other landscaping contractors.

Retaining walls that have moved. Steps that have shifted. Walkways that have settled. Interlocking projects that simply haven't stood the test of time.

And let me tell you something...

WE WOULD MUCH RATHER BUILD YOUR PROJECT PROPERLY THE FIRST TIME THAN HAVE YOU PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO BUILD IT TWICE! 💯

Unfortunately, we've seen firsthand what can happen when important details are overlooked during construction.

Improper excavation. Inadequate base preparation. Poor drainage. Insufficient compaction. And reinforcement that wasn't installed where the design required it.

These are all things that can contribute to premature failures.

🇨🇦 AND LET'S NOT FORGET — WE LIVE IN CANADA! 🇨🇦

Our projects have to withstand freezing temperatures, thawing, heavy rainfall, saturated soils, and the challenges of our Canadian climate.

That's why proper installation methods matter!

GEOGRID IS ONE OF THOSE IMPORTANT TOOLS.

It's an engineered reinforcement material used in certain retaining walls and hardscape applications to improve structural stability.

Now, does every patio, walkway, step, or retaining wall require geogrid?

NO!

But when the project specifications, soil conditions, engineering, or manufacturer's installation requirements call for it, it absolutely needs to be part of the installation.

And that brings me to something I want every homeowner to understand...

🚨 BEFORE YOU HIRE A LANDSCAPER, ASK QUESTIONS! 🚨

✅ How deep are you excavating?

✅ What materials are you using for the base?

✅ How are you handling drainage and water management?

✅ Will geogrid reinforcement be required for my project?

✅ How are you preparing and compacting the foundation?

✅ Are you following the manufacturer's installation specifications?

And most importantly, can your contractor explain WHY they're doing things a certain way?

Because the cheapest quote isn't always the cheapest project in the long run.

Especially when you're paying another contractor years later to tear everything apart and start over.

WE KNOW — BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN THE CONTRACTOR CALLED IN TO FIX IT!!! 💪🏿 💪🏾

And I say that not to criticize every other landscaping company out there. There are excellent contractors doing excellent work.

🚨 ACTION LANDSCAPING — TEMPORARILY OUT OF ACTION 🚨😂

Well… Bu**um got Dad. 🤧😂

My little princess Gabi was sick for most of the weekend, and apparently she decided sharing is caring. ❤️😂

I woke up this morning feeling like I got hit by a brick truck... head cold, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing and just feeling absolutely gross.

We still managed to put in a couple hours today because apparently I don't know how to stay home 😂💪🏾, but by early afternoon my body made the decision for me and I called it a day.
I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our customers, friends and family who have reached out with well wishes and checked in on us.

And especially to Robynne & Will for being so understanding while we're working on their project. 🙏🏾❤️

We're getting into the final stretch of our landscaping season and you guys know how hard we push this time of year, but sometimes you've gotta listen when your body tells you ENOUGH.

I may be down for a day or two while I kick this thing, and I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. We'll be back at it as soon as I'm feeling human again. 😂💪🏾

Another Saturday fixing another landscaper’s mess! 😅🔨

We're in Carleton Place today repairing an interlocking landing that has shifted and settled significantly over the years.

Today we're concentrating on getting the upper landing level, solid and safe again.

We'll be returning in the spring to continue with the steps and landings, give everything a good cleaning and install fresh polymeric sand throughout.

Homeowner tip: If your interlocking steps, landings or walkways are starting to sink, separate or become uneven, don't wait until they get worse. Small amounts of movement can turn into much larger repairs over time.

Sometimes we're building brand-new projects, and sometimes we're called in to fix somebody else's work and make it right. 💪🏿

Being SELF-MADE builds you different.

Nobody handed me a landscaping company. Nobody handed me equipment, a customer list, money, connections or a reputation.

I had to build it.
Job by job. Customer by customer. Year after year.
I've made mistakes. I've taken losses. I've been doubted. I've been underestimated. I've worked exhausted, stressed and wondering how the hell I was going to get everything done.

But I kept fu***ng going.
Because when you're self-made, there's nobody coming to rescue you. You learn. You adapt. You get tougher. You get better. You figure s**t out.

It builds you different.
But here's something else I've learned:
Being self-made doesn't mean you did it without people believing in you. ❤️

And THAT is where my customers come in.
To every person who trusted me with their first little walkway years ago…

To the customers who brought us back for a second, third or fourth project…

To everyone who recommended Action Landscaping to their neighbour, family member or friend…
