The provincial government has officially launched the First-time Homebuyers Program. This new pilot project is designed to help you get into your first home faster by lowering the minimum down payment from 5% to just 2%.

If you’ve been finding it difficult to save for a traditional down payment while keeping up with rent, this could be the bridge you’ve been waiting for.

How it works:

📉 2% Down: Significantly lower upfront cash required.

🛡️ No Insurance Fees: The program is backed by a provincial guarantee, so you don't have to pay for traditional mortgage insurance.

🏦 The Source: This program is offered exclusively through participating local credit unions.

✅ The Limits: Available for homes up to $570k in HRM/East Hants and $500k in the rest of the province.
