Trendz Optical in Sherwood Park is hosting a bedding drive for SHP. SHP has seen a significant uptake in applications in the last month. Any donations of new twin size bedding and pillows would be greatly appreciated!

Trendz Optical located at #102 48 Brentwood Blvd in Sherwood Park has agreed to be a drop off location for bedding for SHP Strathcona. Our chapter serves the Sherwood Park area as well as the Edmonton area, running 2 different funding streams to do so. Although our bedding stock for Sherwood Park is OK at the moment (there's been an uptick in requests lately, but for now we're alright) we did not anticipate the number of families arriving from Ukraine. If we are to continue providing beds for kids we'll need more bedding! We are requesting new twin sized sheets, twin comforters, pillows to help meet needs. Donated bedding saves us time from shopping and means we have more dollars available to build beds which means more kids off the floor! Be part of something big! Please consider donating today. Trendz is open Monday to Thursday 10 - 6pm and Fridays 10 - 5pm.

Upcoming SHP bedding drive December 4th

How can you help provide smiles like this? Consider donating brand new, twin sized bedding this Saturday at our Stuff the Van event. Drop your donation off between 11am and 4pm in Lowe's parking lot on Emerald Drive. We're collecting new, twin sized:
sheet sets
comforters
blankets
and pillows!
When we collect bedding through drives like this we can put more dollars towards beds. Virtual donations can also be made to the Strathcona County Chapter at shpbeds.ca

The Lowe's Heroes Campaign is running through the month of September! This weekend the Lowe's Gateway is hosting a show and shine to help raise funds for SHP! Head over to experience a cool car show, food trucks, and The Balloon Fairies!

SHP Bunks Across Canada is September 11 at Sherwood Park LOWES in Emerald Hills. Hope to see you there!

It's that time of year again! We are happy to announce that our Bunks Across Canada event will take place on September 11th from 9AM to 3PM. This year we will build in the parking lot of our newest sponsor, LOWE'S and Subway will provide lunch to help you help us build 50+ beds. As our team builds beds for kids in Strathcona County and the greater Edmonton area, our fellow Chapters in Canada will be building on the same day for kids in their communities. SHP BUILD day tomorrow at 9AM in Sherwood Park.

Saturday's forecast is sunny with a chance of 20 new beds being made for deserving kids in our community! Come out from 9am to 1pm to help sand and build beds for kids! All tools and training, PPE, cold drinks and snacks will be provided. Build will take place in the parking lot of Trinity Baptist Church at 22550 Twp Rd 530, Sherwood Park. This is a great way to meet new people and work together to alleviate the problem of child bedlessness.
* All participants MUST register at shpbeds.ca. Click the Volunteer tab, Choose the Strathcona Co chapter and scroll down to the Register button.
* Wear close toed shoes and dress for the weather - this is an outdoor event.
* Come for an hour or come for the full 4 hours.

SHP Strathcona County had it's first build day of 2021 yesterday! It's been a long haul with Covid restrictions in place. It was great day to work with tools and build beds. There is a great need in Edmonton and SHP is looking to start a Chapter in Edmonton so that no kid sleeps on the floor in Edmonton! Spread the word! Anyone interested can message .

We're back in Business and open for summer! With Covid restrictions lifting we are happy to announce our first build of 2021! Please join us on Saturday, July 24th from 9AM - 1Pm at Trinity Baptist Church to build 20 beds for kids in our community. We will also have a Stuff the Bunk Event so we encourage you to drive by and drop off NEW twin sized comforters, sheets, and pillows (we REALLY NEED pillows)! We have a quite a list of outstanding requests for beds so this bedding will be put to good use this summer.
