2461 Station 5 Kitchen Table

The ask - Build a table you'd be proud of for Firehall Station 5, paying respect to our department’s past and retired members who use the table as a gathering place.

The concept - Reclaimed barn wood and a retired shoulder flash.

The Build - Wood salvaged locally from, and a special thanks to, Brother Kudrowich. Rough cut Douglas Fir timbers milled into dimensional lumber. Many pieces required crack and split repairs prior to milling. Special attention was paid to leave the original sawmill blade marking in the wood, which is seen on the table top. 100+ gallons of saw dust later, usable wood is stacked in a brick pattern with an outside frame, Maltese cross inlays with historical date signficance, and a CNC shoulder flash. Barn wood siding for the legs completes the design, with bar top epoxy finish.
