Camp He Ho Ha Camp HeHoHa exists to provide safe and rewarding recreational opportunities for children and adults and the construction of a Medical Centre by Mr. & Mrs.

In the late 1950's, it was evident that there was a need for a recreational facility for people with disabilities. The Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton strongly supported the concept and spearheaded the project. A committee of Kiwanis members consisting of Bob Sewell, Dr. Ken Gordon, Walter Bates and Norm McBeth was formed to select a permanent site and to establish a camp especially suited to meet the needs of children with mental and physical disabilities. In 1959, these committee members approached the Provincial Government with their project. It was approved in principle, and the Government directed them to a 107acre parcel of property located on Lake Isle that was accessible by boat only. This site was selected, and lease arrangements with the Department of Lands and Forests was drawn up. A plan was developed to attract other groups that were involved in work with people with disabilities to join in the effort to achieve the goal of the Kiwanis Club. The Alberta Council consisted of representatives from the Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton, the Associated Canadian Travelers Club of Edmonton, the Diabetic Association, and the Edmonton Cerebral Palsy Association. These organizations contributed varying amounts of money to get the project started, and with donation of buildings from Imperial Oil Ltd. Muttart, the Camp commenced operation in 1960. The Camp became an instant success! Today Camp He Ho Ha provides recreational opportunities not only for children with disabilities, but also for adults of all ages with every type and degree of disabilities. Camp He Ho Ha has emerged as a first-class facility providing first-class services. In the last 50 years, it has come a long way! It has grown from the old oilfield camp bunkhouses to a very modern facility consisting of 24 hotel-style rooms, 8 hostels, beautiful meeting rooms, and a wonderful dining room where delicious home-cooked meals are served. It boasts of an incredible wheelchair accessible indoor swimming pool, an 18 hole mini-golf course, a "state of the art" 3-sided 40 foot climbing wall, a high ropes course, a low wheelchair accessible ropes course, and much more.

πŸ”§ Creating solutions. Removing barriers. Building independence.

The Tetra Society creates custom assistive devices for people with disabilities when off-the-shelf solutions simply don’t exist.

With the help of skilled volunteer engineers, technicians, students, and problem-solvers, each project is uniquely designed around an individual’s needs, helping make everyday life more accessible, independent, and inclusive.

We love the incredible work Tetra Society is doing to turn creative ideas into real solutions! πŸ’™

🏍️ Riding with purpose. Giving with heart. πŸ’™

We are incredibly grateful to the Iron Order MC Stampede City Charter for choosing to support Camp He Ho Ha this year!
Philanthropy has long been an important part of the Stampede City Charter. Whether they’re stepping up for a family facing an unimaginable loss, supporting organizations in their community, or helping someone through a difficult time, their members believe in being there when it matters.

Throughout the year, the club raised funds through rides, raffles, and donations, and at their 11th Anniversary celebration on September 26, surrounded by members from across Canada and the United States, they presented Camp He Ho Ha with an incredible donation of more than $4,000!

These funds will directly support our barrier-free camp programs and help create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to experience adventure, independence, friendship, and belonging.

To the Iron Order Stampede City Charter and everyone who contributed, rode, bought a raffle ticket, donated, or helped make this possible: thank you. πŸ’™

We are so grateful to have you riding alongside Camp He Ho Ha and our campers.

πŸ•οΈ Come With Me to the Medi center! πŸ©ΊπŸ’š

Come with me for a look inside our Medi center, an important part of how we support our campers throughout their stay at Camp He Ho Ha!

Inside, you’ll see our main office and medication storage area, our observation room and camper bathroom, as well as the rooms where our nurses stay during camp.

Our nurses live right here during each camp session and base their 24-hour nursing care out of the Medi center, making sure support is available whenever our campers need it, day or night. πŸ’š

Take a peek inside!

This past spring, we had the opportunity to work with a group of MacEwan University Marketing students who selected Camp He Ho Ha for their capstone project! πŸŽ“πŸ’š

Throughout the project, the students took the time to learn about our organization, our mission, and the work we do. They brought a fresh perspective and shared thoughtful ideas for growth, valuable insights, and practical recommendations that we can carry forward as we continue to strengthen our reach in the community.

We’re so grateful for the time, creativity, and energy they invested in Camp He Ho Ha. Thank you to the MacEwan students for choosing us and for sharing your talents with our team!

The last week of camp definitely didn’t disappoint! πŸ˜‚

Our Camp Coordinator, Daelynn, was the target of one final camp prank when every chair in her office mysteriously disappeared. πŸͺ‘πŸ‘€

After a little detective work, she managed to track down the missing chairs… and the culprit: Little Chef! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Apparently, Little Chef had one last bit of camp mischief to take care of before the summer wrapped up!

Thanks for keeping us laughing right to the very end. πŸ’šβ˜€οΈ
