Project Spotlight : Christina Lake Pedestrian Bridge

Providing a safe and accessible connection across Christina Creek as part of Christina Lake's Active Transportation Plan.

Designed, fabricated, and installed by the team at Interior Marine Construction, the bridge stretches 250 feet in length with a 150-foot clear span, making it the longest aluminum truss pedestrian bridge in Canada. Every stage of the project, from engineering and fabrication through transportation, assembly, and installation, showcased the dedication, craftsmanship, and expertise of our team.

Projects like this are about more than building infrastructure. They're about creating lasting connections that will serve residents and visitors for generations to come.

We're grateful to have been part of such a significant project and thank the Village of Christina Lake, our project partners, and everyone involved for helping bring this vision to life.

Shoreline Stabilization from the Water

By utilizing barge-mounted excavators, we can access shoreline stabilization projects directly from the water, eliminating the need to bring heavy equipment across sensitive shorelines, landscaped areas, or adjacent properties.

This approach minimizes site disturbance, reduces environmental impacts, and allows our crews to work safely and efficiently while protecting the surrounding shoreline.

It’s one more way we’re committed to balancing quality construction with environmental stewardship.

⭐️ Project Spotlight: Hairsine Floating Pedestrian Bridge

The Hairsine Floating Pedestrian Bridge remains a perfect example of the specialized marine infrastructure work our team delivers.

Working on floating bridge structures requires more than conventional construction expertise. Success depends on careful marine logistics, experienced crews, certified vessel operators, reliable equipment, and a commitment to safety throughout every phase of the project.

For this project, our team helped deliver a key piece of BC Hydro infrastructure while working within the unique challenges of a marine environment. Projects like these showcase what we value most: safe operations, environmental stewardship, strong planning, and quality workmanship that stands the test of time.

We’re proud to have played a role in building infrastructure that connects people and supports communities across British Columbia.

Protecting the water we work in 💧

Boom socks and turbidity curtains are essential tools in our marine construction projects. They are used to contain sediment, prevent the spread of contaminants, and keep surrounding ecosystems safe.

It’s all part of our commitment to doing the job right, with environmental stewardship at the forefront.

This week we are wrapping up the installation of the new pedestrian bridge in Christina Creek, BC. IMC built and designed the bridge as part of Christina Lake’s Active Transportation Plan to provide a safe connection to each side of the lake for local and tourist pedestrian traffic.

We were thrilled to bring such an exciting addition to the community. Big thanks to CEC for providing the cranes needed to execute such a complex installation, and Spooner Electric and Advantage Gutters for providing the finishing touches.
