HJR Asphalt Inc.

We’re a Saskatchewan-based road construction company dedicated to building safe, lasting roadways across the province.

Follow along for project updates, career opportunities, and a behind-the-scenes look at the people who power HJR. HJR Asphalt began in 1988 with a cold mix plant and a couple pieces of equipment. The business grew steadily through the 90′s and then took off in the 2000′s. Today, HJR can pave over 400,000 tonnes of asphalt in the May to October construction season, with five portable asphalt plants

and over 120 people. HJR’s operation is anchored by the five asphalt plants, but it also owns and operates millions of dollars worth of supporting equipment such as loaders, skid steers, graders, millers, pavers, rollers, and numerous trucks. HJR also has a shop and mechanics to provide servicing and maintenance as required.

Women in Construction Week celebrates the important roles that women play, both on the job site and in the office. We would like to take time to honour their positive influence, commitment, and leadership in an industry where they continue to shatter stereotypes and motivate others.

Last week, a few of our employees spent time at the Ronald McDonald House preparing breakfast for dinner for the families staying there. We cooked a full spread - pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs - and had an amazing time giving back to our community!

We're grateful for the opportunity to support such a wonderful organization and help bring a little comfort to families when they need it most.❤️

Wrapping Up 2025 and Rolling Into 2026!🎉

HJR Asphalt’s 2025 construction season was a success— our team delivered 210,000 tonnes of asphalt and 100,000 tonnes of granular material across multiple projects. That’s not just numbers; that’s proof of our commitment to quality, efficiency, and teamwork!

As we round the corner into 2026, we have secured a project on Highway 16 Maymont, Saskatchewan and are actively bidding to continue the momentum.

Beyond the asphalt, we’re dedicated to building connections and spreading joy throughout the community. Volunteers visited the Ronald McDonald House to spread holiday cheer. Baking for the Ronald McDonald House guests has been an annual tradition of HJR’s, and we were excited to be back in action once again this Holiday season. We managed to make over 10 dozen cookies for the 60+ guests staying at the house.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for families with seriously ill or injured children receiving care at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. HJR is proud to support its incredible mission.
