What Causes Diesel Fuel to Gel? ❄️

Diesel fuel naturally contains wax. As temperatures fall, that wax can begin forming crystals that make the fuel cloudy and increasingly difficult to pass through a fuel filter.

As more wax collects on the filter media, fuel flow can become restricted, potentially resulting in hard starting, loss of power or an engine that won't run.

With colder weather approaching, understanding how temperature affects your diesel fuel is the first step toward preparing your equipment for winter.

Call us today (1-800-667-6879) to discuss how to protect your fuel or obtain fuel additives that prevent gelling today!

❄️ 4+ Arctic or 4+ Polar Max: What’s the Difference?

Both are built to help keep diesel equipment running when temperatures drop, but they serve different needs.

🔹 4+ Arctic is our versatile all-in-one winter diesel treatment, helping prevent gelling while cleaning injectors, boosting lubricity and cetane, stabilizing fuel, and more.

🔹 4+ Polar Max is for when extreme cold protection is the priority. It’s designed to transform summer diesel fuel for winter performance and protect against gelling in temperatures as low as -55°C.

Whether you’re running trucks, farm equipment, heavy machinery, or generators, choosing the right winter fuel treatment can help keep you working when the cold sets in.

🥶 Winter is around the corner. Make sure your diesel is ready.

🔧 Ask the DSG Power Systems Parts Department which 4+ Fuel Additive is right for your application.

Buster is back with the next entry in our 4+ Bull series! 🐂🔍

This month’s feature is “UNDETECT-A-BULL.”

Diesel fuel contamination isn’t always easy to spot. Water, dirt, sediment, and other contaminants can build up in stored fuel, even when the fuel looks clean at first glance.

That’s why keeping your fuel clean and protected is an important part of preventing plugged filters, poor performance, fuel system problems, and unexpected downtime.

Contamination can be UNDETECT-A-BULL. The problems it causes aren’t.

Have your own creative “Bull” phrase?

Drop it in the comments! 💬

It's Testimonial Thursday!

The Proof Is in the Tube 🔎

Sometimes the best testimonial is seeing a product do its job.

This used DQTube LT was pulled from a fuel storage tank after doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Take a look at all the water and contaminants it has captured in just over a week.

All before the chance it causes big problems in stored fuel.

See the results for yourself 👀

❗️Did you know your equipment may give you clues that something isn’t right with your stored diesel? ❗️

Fuel-related problems aren’t always obvious inside the storage tank. Sometimes, the first warning signs appear when that fuel reaches your equipment.

Watch for:

⚠️ Fuel filters plugging more frequently than expected
⚠️ Water repeatedly appearing in fuel-water separators
⚠️ Fuel that appears hazy, dark or contains visible sediment
⚠️ Unexplained loss of engine performance
⚠️ Recurring fuel-system issues across equipment using the same stored fuel

These symptoms don’t automatically mean your stored diesel is contaminated, but they can be good reasons to take a closer look at fuel condition and storage.

Catching a developing issue early can help prevent a much larger headache later.

Is your equipment trying to tell you something about your fuel?

It’s Testimonial Thursday!

Hear what our customers have to say about their experience with us:

"We’ve been using 4+ Fuel Additives, both the 4+ Premium and 4+ Super Clean products, for the past year across our fleet, which includes four diesel trucks, a Bobcat skidsteer, an 8-ton Mecallac excavator, and a large John Deere loader.

The difference in efficiency and overall operation has been dramatic. Our engines are running smoother, with noticeably cleaner performance and reduced downtime.

Most impressively, we’re seeing real savings, just as advertised. The 4+ Premium product is helping us cut fuel costs by around 5%.

We’re now firm believers in 4+ and won’t run our equipment without it"

- Ryan Hoskin (TLS Property Services - Eastern Passage, NS)

Boxes are built, supplies are ready, and our production team is gearing up for another run tomorrow.

With fall and winter just around the corner, production of our winter-formulated 4+ Fuel Additives is starting to ramp up for the colder months ahead.

Around here, this is the calm before the storm — before the mixing, filling, packing, and shipping gets into full swing 📦
