It's that time of year again! With the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's and women's hockey teams kicking off a new season and minor hockey back on the ice, we're taking a look back at Merlis Belsher Place. aodbt is proud to have been involved in creating a facility that supports Huskie athletics while providing a welcoming space for young athletes and the community. The Cree Nations Treatment Centre is an ongoing partnership between Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, Big River First Nation, Pelican Lake First Nation, and Witchekan Lake First Nation, providing counselling and support to help individuals overcome the challenges of substance abuse and trauma while learning healthy ways of living.

The new building features an expanded treatment and wellness centre developed through the partnership of the four Nations, along with a co-located Detox Facility operated by Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. Inspired by northern timber lodges, the architectural design blends a welcoming, home-like character with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, creating a place that supports healing, wellness, and community. The two-storey, wood-framed facility combines natural materials with a sophisticated structural system incorporating wood and steel framing, hollowcore components, and glulam roof trusses.

The main floor brings together counselling, cultural, fitness, and learning spaces, including a ceremony room, elders' room, classroom, gymnasium, and outdoor decks and patios that connect to walking paths weaving through the surrounding forest. At the heart of the building, a vaulted central gathering space connects these communal areas with the residential spaces above. The second floor features 30 resident beds, a visitor room, private saunas, lounges, and sheltered balconies overlooking the forest and lake, creating welcoming spaces that support residents throughout their healing journey.

We are honoured to be part of this meaningful project and to work alongside a dedicated team helping bring a place of healing, wellness, and connection to life.

At The Hadley, the interior design supports community, connection, and everyday living. Thoughtfully designed amenity spaces provide opportunities for residents to gather, work, relax, and entertain beyond their individual suites.

A balanced mix of moody dark and light finishes, layered textures, and contemporary details creates inviting spaces throughout the building. From the fitness centre and cinema to the games room, co-working areas, and resident lounges, each space was carefully designed to support a variety of lifestyles while fostering a strong sense of community. These amenity spaces complement residential life by providing inviting places for residents to gather, connect, unwind, and recharge.

We enjoyed partnering with WestCliff Developments and Wright Construction on The Hadley, working together to create a vibrant residential community in Saskatoon.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities. Reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility, and we invite everyone to take time to listen, learn, and reflect on the truths shared by Survivors, today and every day.

At aodbt, we understand that reconciliation is a continuous journey of learning and reflection. Through education, cultural awareness, meaningful engagement, and listening to the experiences and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples, we continue to build our understanding and strengthen our relationships with Indigenous clients and communities.

Our Prince Albert studio team had a busy day of celebrating projects in the community on Friday! ❤️

10 years ago we worked with Ronald McDonald House SK designing the RMH Family Room in the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. It was the first of its kind in Saskatchewan - dedicated to both supporting families in the north & the house in Saskatoon.

A decade later, we are proud of the incredible relationship we have built with RMH and are excited for the opening of two new houses in Prince Albert and Regina in early 2027 and still to come a new family room opening in the Victoria Hospital addition!

Congratulations on 10 years… you have made a difference for countless families not only in Prince Albert and the north, but throughout our entire province ❤️ We are grateful to have been a part of this journey!!!

Our aodbt team was thrilled to be a part of the celebrations today with Métis Nation–Saskatchewan at the opening of the new Prince Albert Ma Faamii and Early Learning Centre. It was a fantastic morning, not only celebrating the opening of this important centre for Métis Nation Saskatchewan but also an opportunity for our community team to learn, celebrate Métis culture and build relationships in our community.

With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 approaching, we are taking time to reflect on the relationships we have built and the lessons we have learned through our work with Indigenous communities over the years.

For more than 45 years, aodbt has had the privilege of working alongside Indigenous clients and communities across Treaty territories. These relationships have shaped our work, challenged our thinking, and taught us the importance of listening, learning, and working together.

We were thrilled to be a part of the event announcing the "Moose Woods Child & Youth Centre for Resilience" - an amazing partnership between Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation , Whitecap Dakota Nation & Saskatoon Tribal Council. This centre focusing on wellness & mental health for children and youth will be the first of its kind in our province. It's an amazing project that aodbt is proud to be a part of ❤️
