🦃🍂 Did Thanksgiving dinner come with a side of steamed-up windows?

Cooking releases a surprising amount of moisture into your home. When that warm, humid air meets colder window glass, condensation forms.

A little temporary fogging after a big meal can be normal. If your windows steam up every time you cook—or stay wet long afterwards—it may mean your home isn’t moving moisture out effectively.

Proper kitchen exhaust and balanced ventilation can help control indoor humidity, improve air quality and keep your home more comfortable.

Call MN Mechanical at 519-383-9922 or visit mnmechanical.ca to discuss your home’s ventilation needs.

Comfort from the ground up. 🔥

Our crew recently installed this new hydronic in-floor heating system, complete with a Navien unit, circulating pumps and custom copper piping.

Instead of relying solely on warm air from vents, in-floor heating gently radiates warmth upward through the floor. The result is quiet, even comfort with fewer cold spots—and floors that feel especially good on a chilly Sarnia-Lambton morning.

Planning a new build or renovation? Ask MN Mechanical whether in-floor heating could be a good fit for your space.

Usually, ductwork is designed to disappear behind the walls and ceiling. But when it looks this good, why hide it?

Exposed spiral ductwork has become a popular design feature in modern apartments, lofts and commercial spaces, and we’re absolutely on board. In this downtown apartment, the polished metal adds just the right amount of industrial character to an otherwise bright, clean interior.

Functional, thoughtfully installed and genuinely stunning. This is mechanical work that deserves to be seen. 🔧

When your furnace runs for the first time after months of inactivity, a brief dusty smell can be normal. Dust that settled inside the system over the summer is warming up and the odour should fade fairly quickly.

What shouldn’t be ignored:

⚠️ A burning smell that persists
⚠️ An electrical or melting-plastic odour
⚠️ Smoke or unusual noises
⚠️ A gas-like or rotten-egg smell

If you smell gas, leave the home immediately and contact your gas utility’s emergency line or 911 from a safe location. Don’t try to locate the source yourself.

If another unusual odour continues after the first heating cycle, turn the system off and have it inspected. Call MN Mechanical at 519-383-9922 or visit mnmechanical.ca.

New house, new mechanical systems built from the ground up. 🔧

Our crew has been busy outfitting this new home with a high-efficiency furnace and custom ductwork, a Navien tankless water heater, Lifebreath ventilation and a neatly organized gas distribution system for multiple appliances.

It’s the kind of work that will eventually be tucked behind finished walls, but careful planning now helps ensure everything works together to keep the home comfortable, efficient and ready for move-in.

Building a new home? MN Mechanical can help coordinate your heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, gas and electrical needs under one roof.

Don’t wait for the first cold night to find out your furnace isn’t ready.

Turn your thermostat to heat and let the system run for a few minutes. Confirm that warm air is reaching your vents, listen for unusual noises and watch for trouble starting or maintaining the temperature.

If something seems off, now is the time to have it checked—before colder weather arrives and your furnace genuinely needs to perform.
