Just moved into New Bothwell, Manitoba?

A lot of these new builds around here come without any landscaping. So we sat down with the homeowner to figure out what he actually wanted… security, a place to hang out, and a yard that wouldn’t take much upkeep.

We came in and built a 6-foot secured fence around the full perimeter, framed a two-tiered deck with an 8x8 landing up top, ran stairs down to a 16x16 picture frame deck, and laid fresh sod through the rest of the yard 😎

Now he’s got a backyard he can actually use. Secured, low maintenance, and ready to enjoy.

Another solid one in the books from the Flip Flop Construction crew 👊

New build home in New Bothwell, Manitoba just got a massive upgrade.

When we first showed up, it was just dirt in the front and back.

The homeowner wanted his yard secured, a spot to hang out with family and friends, and something that wouldn’t take a lot of upkeep.

Here’s what our crew did:
✅ Laid fresh sod across the yard
✅ Built a two-tiered deck with a 4x8 landing up top and stairs coming down
✅ Installed the homeowner’s gazebo for a shaded hangout spot
✅ Framed 310 feet of 6-foot fence to fully secure the yard

Now he’s got a proper space to grill burgers, host friends, and make memories for years to come.

Another solid backyard transformation from the Flip Flop Construction crew.

950 feet of fence. 2 decks. 4 gates. 9,000 square feet of sod. 3 happy homeowners on the same street in New Bothwell, Manitoba 😎

Here’s how it happened.

One homeowner called Flip Flop Construction for landscaping. Then his neighbor called. Then his other neighbor did too. When we showed up, all three yards were just dirt, front and back.

On house one, we built 300 feet of fence, a two-tiered deck with a pergola on top, and laid sod front and back.

House two got the same treatment on the exterior 300 feet of fence, a two-tiered deck (8x8 up top, 16x16 down low), and fresh sod front and back.

House three, we secured the yard with 250 feet of fence.

Turns out good work travels down the street.

Happy to help this New Bothwell community turn their new houses into homes 🙌

Two weeks in Saint Paul’s Bay, Red Lake, Ontario and this cabin came a long way 😎

The family wanted a place they could actually hang out and enjoy. The old setup wasn’t cutting it, so we got to work.

We stripped the cottage and wrapped it in new LP lap and cedar shake siding, with fresh soffit and fascia to help the attic breathe.

In the front, we tore down two old sheds, one for the power, one for the hot water tank then built a new 6x34 deck, and rebuilt the power shed from scratch.

The waterfront side is where it really opens up.

We reinforced the old deck, replaced the running boards, and added a new 20x12 second tier deck. Then ripped out the old bay windows and patio door, reframed the front wall, and installed two new 7-foot windows on either side of a brand new patio door.

A lot more living space and a lot more summer days ahead for this family ☀️

Two homes in Red Lake, Ontario, both with roofs that were well past due.

When the homeowners called, these roofs were in rough shape. The kind where you don’t want to risk another season. So we loaded up and headed north to take care of both at once.

Two days on site. We stripped the old shingles right down, hauled the material off, and went over the decking to fix anything soft before it got covered. Fresh underlayment across both, then 150 bundles on the bigger house and 50 on the other. Finished off with new ridge venting to let them breathe.

Cleaned up the site, loaded the trailer, and pulled out with two solid roofs behind us.

Always a good feeling driving away from a job done right.

We helped this homeowner get his patio across the finish line in Crescentwood, Winnipeg.

This homeowner started a backyard patio project but hit a wall before it was done. He called us in to take it the rest of the way.

We laid out the remaining pavers, ran river rock along the edges to clean up the lines, and built out a small dog run so his pup has a proper spot to go.

Out front, we put the leftover pavers to good use, a little patch beside the garden bed he kept stepping into, and a clean walkway to spruce up the entrance from the street.

Nothing wasted. Just a yard that finally works the way it was meant to.

This is the story of Flip Flop Construction.

We went from doing side jobs in flip flops to large commercial projects.

It all started when I was 14, I started working with my Dad’s deck and fencing company.

Fell in love with the trade and knew right away this was the work I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

The name Flip Flop Construction is a funny story 😅 I was running side jobs on weekends back then, always in flip flops on site. So I called the company Flip Flop Construction.

Bit of a joke at the time. 10 years later it’s steel toes every day but the name stuck.

Real turning point came 7 or 8 years back.

Did one solid build for a buddy’s grandpa, then another, then another.

Crew grew from 8 to 12 to 16 hands. It just snowballed from there.

Now we’re building across Manitoba, Ontario, and working toward Alberta next.

Excited for what’s to come and appreciate you for following along 😎

Check out this shop build in Ile Des Chenes, Manitoba 😎

This one was a beauty! We completed the inside of this shop and you won’t believe it.

On the main floor, we built a 20x40 mezzanine, which opened up a solid work area underneath and a place to store machines and equipment. We built out custom toolbox storage below and wired in pot lights throughout, there was no electrical back there, so we handled the full install.

Our favourite part? Upstairs.

Custom timber tread stairs with LED lights underneath, glue-down vinyl plank flooring, and tongue and groove pine wrapped across the exterior walls with matching baseboard and trim.

800 square feet of space up top for a pool table, bar, whatever you want.

The entertainment wall is built out for a 3D effect, wrapped in stone, wired for speakers, a 100-inch TV, and a fireplace.

This one was a fun project to bring to life! 👌
