The Fundy Engineering Team had a fantastic time volunteering at the 2026 NB Soap Box Derby last weekend! Our own Jon Pitman is the Chair of the Volunteer Organizing Committee, and this year Greg Hoyt, Hector Lamprea, and Gord Mouland were there helping out the racers. Congrats to the winners and we hope to see you all again next year.

In observance of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28, 2026, Ryan Gosson participated in a national seminar hosted by the Saint Lucia Department of Labour under the theme: “Effects of Poor Indoor Air Quality and Mould on Occupational Health.” The seminar brought together professionals responsible for occupational safety and health, facilities management, and workplace wellness to discuss emerging concerns related to indoor environmental quality.

Ryan’s presentation focused on the impact of poor indoor air quality and mould exposure within occupational settings, emphasizing the importance of proactive prevention and workplace health management. Key areas discussed included the identification and causes of mould growth in workplaces, best practices for addressing mould, and the associated health risks for employees exposed to mould-contaminated environments.

The presentation also highlighted the critical role of HVAC systems and building maintenance practices in maintaining healthy indoor spaces and preventing mould proliferation. Attention was given to practical strategies organizations can implement to improve ventilation, monitor moisture levels, and strengthen occupational health and safety protocols.

Last night we were delighted to be recognized at the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of New Brunswick Engineering Excellence Awards. For our work on the Ritchie Lake Baseline Assessment, Sediment and Water Quality Study and Management plan we were awarded the 2026 Engineering Excellence Award. Back in February, David Richards, P.Eng., MBA, took part in the 17th edition of the Royal Ocean Racing Club Caribbean 600 in Antigua. The Bella J raced non-stop for 600 miles around 11 Caribbean islands, taking home second place in the IRC-Two class against 14 other boats! The crew was made up of 8 people from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and the UK.
