There’s been a lot of talk about batteries lately with the proposed changes to Net Metering.
The reality is, with 1:1 Net Metering today, there really isn’t much of a financial case for batteries. For most people, it’s about convenience and backup power.
Could that change? Absolutely. Battery prices could come down, technology will change, and changes to Net Metering or how we’re charged for electricity could make batteries a lot more financially valuable.
We use micro, string and hybrid inverters, depending on the project and what the customer is trying to accomplish. If batteries make sense today, great. If they don’t, they can always be added later.
The bigger point for us is this: people who go solar today are going to have options as the electricity market changes. People who stay 100% dependent on the grid won’t.
