You don't have to turn the heat on yet, but this is a very good time to make sure it'll be ready when you do!

If your furnace shows signs of age, struggle, or performance, now is the time to have it looked at. You can understand what condition it's in, deal with maintenance or repairs, and explore replacement options if necessary.

When you do eventually give in and turn that thermostat to HEAT, pay attention to how the system starts, sounds, smells and warms your home. Those first few cycles can tell you a lot.

Not ready to turn the heat on? Neither are we. Just make sure your furnace is.

Repair it again or start thinking about replacement?

There isn't one correct answer for every HVAC system and age isn't the only thing that matters.

A relatively minor repair on equipment that's otherwise performing well can make perfect sense but when repairs are becoming more frequent, comfort has declined, or you're investing significant money into aging equipment, it's worth looking at the bigger picture.

Constant running doesn't *automatically* mean something is wrong.

On particularly hot and humid days, longer run times can be expected. Your system is trying to remove both heat and moisture from your home while outdoor conditions are working against it.

What really matters is how your home is responding.

If the temperature keeps climbing, your system can't reach the thermostat setting, or airflow feels weaker than usual, don't just assume it's because it's hot outside.

Pay attention to what your system is telling you and if something has changed, we can help you figure out why.

Think about how much your home has changed since your current HVAC system was installed.

Finished the basement? New windows? Home office? Renovation? Different family needs?

Your heating and cooling needs may have changed along with it.
