So, the fundamental problem with Blaine Higgs’ latest debacle is that it was a largely singlehanded and unilateral attempt to force policy change. To wit, to force a policy change that detracts from the set of human freedoms we all enjoy, rather than adding to them.
Luckily it failed …this time.

The “You Are Not Allowed!” card (i.e., A youth is “Not Allowed!” to chose their own designation; a Health CEO is not allowed to continue) is a decidedly aggressive government posture that truly threatens each and every one of us.
ANYTIME a government bypasses debate and discussion, veering to the dangerous “YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED!”, is a time of encroachment upon the human freedoms that we have all paid so dearly to attain and maintain.

Given that this is only the latest example of Higgs’ posturing and browbeating manner, the time to bring out the ballot box is NOW. The time to return to Democratic governance was YESTERDAY. ��The type of governing Blaine Higgs believes in is dangerous to the freedoms of all New Brunswicker’s

See this guy? This is Dylan, our cheerful, smart and hardworking Canada Post guy. He’s funny and always ready to banter with us even now that his job is dangerous and considered front line. We are accepting mail and packages for our neighbours too, so we get to see his smiling face more often.

Before travelling from home, be sure to let your entire network know your plans. Include all your neighbours (who will be the first to take notice of any irregularities), your family and friends, and even the local police dept.

Tell the network what steps you’ve taken to secure the home and who will be checking in while you’re gone. This is an inviting and inclusive way to prevent any misunderstandings and to strengthen your away-from-home team.

Pricing Guidelines

Weekly home checks are $30+HST per check.
Twice-Weekly Checks are $25+HST per check or $50+HST per week.
Home checks every third day are $20+HST per check or $200+HST per month.
Daily home checks(safest option) are $15+HST per check or $350+HST per month.

Snow removal is $60/hour+HST divisible by quarter hours.
I have a plow man on standby who can do most driveways for $40+HST or less.
Homeowners get more leverage with the Insurance Co's, and a greater sense of security, when the water lines are drained. This is a service I provide for $80+HST - the fee includes the work and supplies required for draining lines, winterizing toilets and traps with plumbers antifreeze, then repopulating the lines just prior to your return.
If your hot water heater is still on I suggest you turn it off.
There are many other away from home suggestions that may or may not be applicable to your situation and your needs. It is strongly advised that homeowners check with their insurance broker to gain a complete understanding of the steps they need to take to maintain insurance coverage while they are away from their home.

As a bit if a weather nut I’ve noted that most snowstorms this year and last have involved a rain event - usually occurring on the tail end of the system. These mixed precipitation storms greatly increase the risk of power outages and other adverse conditions. Tomorrow’s storm is also forecast to end in rain. Be prepared for emergencies.

Did you know....?
