Just a friendly reminder to clean your filters regularly, once a month is recommended. You can use a shop vac or decent vacuum or just run it under water for a few minutes. Gently pat it dry with a towel or just shake it out and put it back in a little damp because the air flow will finish drying it. No need to use use any type of cleaner at all.
And it's really easy to access the filter. Usually you either just lift the front panel and slide them down and out or else they're held in place on top with a few small magnets.
The unit pulls air to heat and cool your home through the filter. If the filter is full of dust, dirt, pet dander, smoke particles or anything else that might be in the air, it has to work that much harder to do its job, which will increase your electricity bills and maintenance issues, and reduce the life of your mini split.
The main reason I started this company was this - lack of proper instruction when it comes to maintaining your mini split. We were told when we had our first mini splits installed over 10 years ago that there was no maintenance required, just a monthly cleaning of the filters. Fast-forward 8 years later and we had to replace our units because the dirt inside forced the unit to run too hard and we still weren't getting the heat needed to heat our home. It turns out the inside of the unit was full of mold and dirt and everything else. We weren't told about getting a regular deep cleaning to clean the inside of the unit.
And with summer (hopefully 🤞) around the corner, now would be a great time to book your deep cleaning appointment before the air-conditioning season starts. Send me a message and I'll get you booked.
Have a great day!
