During the initial site visit to review the scope of work and provide a complimentary estimate for this residential client, it was discovered that their existing outdoor receptacles had been installed with BX cable that is rated for dry locations only and not suitable or safe for outdoor use. Thinking about purchasing a hot tub for your backyard? Make sure you consider your electrical requirements before purchasing equipment and pouring your concrete slab.

In order to be compliant with new ESA requirements and pass inspection, hot tubs and spas placed directly on the ground, concrete slabs or patio stones require a bare copper bonding ring to prevent stray voltage and shock hazards.

Something else to consider is whether your current panel can support the additional electrical load of your new hot tub.

Not sure where to start? Give Spek Electric a call today and we will happily provide you with a complimentary consultation and estimate.
