Today’s work included installing a new service mast through the roofline, mounting the 200A meter base, and digging for the new grounding plate.

Each step is important in getting the home ready for its upgraded electrical service and ensuring everything is installed safely and properly.

A little marina time in Richmond today ⚡️

Stopped by for a walkthrough for some upcoming lighting work, then headed to a service call for a doorbell chime that suddenly stopped working.

Turns out the transformer was putting out 100V instead of the normal low-voltage output. Definitely not something you want hiding behind your doorbell, and a good reminder that even small electrical problems can sometimes point to a much bigger safety issue.

Another day keeping Richmond homes and businesses safe, one service call at a time.

Service upgrade day in Richmond didn’t quite go as planned.

Started taking apart the panel for a new 200A service, but BC Hydro couldn’t locate the other end of their infrastructure. So, everything had to go back together for now.

We’ll get it sorted and finish the upgrade. 🔧⚡

Another service call today to determine if a retail unit was safe for BC Hydro to re-energize.

A couple of issues were found, including a hot water tank powered through a power bar buried in the ceiling, connected to a loose receptacle with no faceplate. I also found a bundle of wires taped together and buried in the ceiling.

These are the kinds of electrical issues you don’t always see until someone takes the time to properly inspect the system. Hidden wiring doesn’t mean safe wiring.
