🌿 A strong planting palette starts with foliage.

🌿 Hakone grass is a favourite for good reason. It brings strong colour and movement to shaded gardens, stays relatively contained compared with more aggressive ornamental grasses, and is straightforward to manage year after year.

🌿 From a builder and maintenance perspective, it is one of those plants that simply makes sense - reliable, architectural and easy to work into a refined planting scheme. It is also a frequent choice in high-end landscape design 🌿 🏡

One of our favourite hidden details on this project ✨

A custom-fabricated cooler tucked beneath the porcelain pavers, with interior lighting that switches on when opened

Because the best entertaining features don’t always need to be on display ✨✨🌟

Meet Owen 🌿 Originally from Australia, he grew up inside the country’s largest national park and got an early start working at a native plant nursery.

Since moving to BC, he’s enjoyed getting to know the incredible variety of plants we have here in the Lower Mainland. One of his favourite parts of the job is pruning trees and hedges and seeing how the right care can encourage healthy new growth.

Outside of work, Owen is an avid musician and spends plenty of time hiking and camping around BC 🎧

What does he enjoy most about Swick’s? Working with a close-knit team that’s always sharing plant knowledge and focused on keeping landscapes healthy 🌱

💬 Say hello or drop a ❤️ to Owen

Yaletown - a multi‑functional Sky Deck revealed ✨ 🌟

✨ High above the city, this rooftop was designed as a series of outdoor spaces that flow together: places to cook, gather, relax and enjoy the views.

✨ The design and construction emphsize a hardscape featuring porcelain pedestal paving, integrated lighting, concealed service lines, and custom‑built entertaining zones that create a seamless outdoor environment right in the heart of the city

✨ Open lounges balance with more private corners, while layered planting softens the architecture and brings greenery into the urban setting

Now enjoy a refined rooftop built for day‑to‑night living in downtown Vancouver 😍

🌿 It’s the combination that makes the planting

🌿Spikes of Salvia bring height and structure, while Asters weave through with softer colour and movement

🌿Layered together, they create that relaxed, slightly wild look that makes a garden feel full and established….
