Crawl space too low for a heat pump? Not quite 🔧
On this Greater Vancouver home the old gas furnace came out and a ducted air handler heat pump went in — but the crawl space didn't have the headroom for an upright unit.
So we laid the air handler horizontally, set it on a built-up platform, and fabricated all-new ductwork around it — supply plenum, return, transitions, the lot 🏠
Everything had to be planned in that low space: where the unit sits, how the refrigerant line set and condensate drain run, and enough clearance in front of the service panel so it can be opened for filter changes and maintenance later.
🔥❄️ Then the system gets commissioned: refrigerant lines vacuumed and charged, electrical checked, airflow verified across the coil, heating and cooling modes tested, condensate drainage confirmed. One system — heat in winter, cooling in summer.
Before handover we walk the homeowner through the thermostat and where the filter goes, so day-to-day upkeep is simple 👌
