Hey everyone! As we transition to our busiest season, we would like to introduce Salthaven West Wildlife Rehabilitation to those who may not know about the work that we do! Please follow and share this post with any group within southern Saskatchewan who may have interactions with wildlife.
Salthaven West is a nonprofit Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic that provides care for sick, injured, orphaned, or displaced wildlife across southern Saskatchewan. Our goal is to release healthy wildlife back to its natural habitat and provide education on how we can best coexist with wildlife.
If you find wildlife that might need help, call the Salthaven West helpline (639-999-4957) BEFORE you intervene. We’ll ask questions to understand the situation and provide instructions on how to safely contain the animal IF it requires care at our facility.
We may be busy with a patient when you call. If we don’t pick up or we’re on the other line, please leave a detailed message and we will get back to you ASAP! We are not a 24-hour clinic, but we do our best within our means to be available 7 days a week.
Wildlife drop-offs are by appointment only. We cannot prepare if we don’t know you’re coming. Our small and mighty team consists mainly of volunteers who dedicate their time to helping the dozens of wildlife patients that are in our care at any given time. We rely on the public to transport the wildlife to our clinic (or we will put you in touch with the Wildlife Rescue Society of Saskatchewan that offers transportation of sick/injured wildlife to our clinic).
NEVER provide food or water to wildlife that is injured, sick, orphaned, or displaced. Incorrect administration or the wrong diet could lead to serious or even fatal outcomes. We cannot overstate this.
Thank you for being a wildlife hero! 🦆🦇🦅🐢🦫🐦🐍
