The North Spirit Lake Winter Road will remain open until 5pm on April 8, 2026

Be advised that No Name Creek Bridge will be destroyed shortly after 5 pm tomorrow.

NOTICE OF WINTER ROAD CLOSURE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC

Please be advised that the North Spirit Lake Winter Road along with the Sandy Lake Winter Road will be closed to heavy traffic starting March 19th @ 11:59 pm (tonight) thru to March 21st @ 5:00 am (Saturday)

Heavy traffic heading Northbound will be held at Berens Lake and Heavy Traffic heading Southbound will be held at both the North Spirit Lake Community Checkpoint along with the Sandy Lake Community Checkpoint.

Please be advised that effective as of noon Jan 26, 2026 (today) the North Spirit Lake Winter Road is open to LIGHT TRAFFIC ONLY. Please drive with caution as there are FNC Employees & Equipment still performing some clean up on the road.

Good Morning Everyone

We would like to give everyone an update on the North Spirit Lake winter road. Today and tomorrow we will continue flooding the ice bridges, we have encountered a blow down area where the forest fire jumped the road, we are dispatching a dozer there to push fallen trees. We also will continue widening and dragging the road with groomers and the grader. We also plan to move camp to the Flanagan.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and support. We are anticipating opening the road to light traffic in the next few days.

We will post once the road is open.

Good Evening Everyone

We have had numerous inquiries regarding the winter road to North Spirit Lake.

Our road building crew is happy to report that they have pushed through to the 80 km mark on the NSL winter road. They are also concentrating on the ice bridge lifts across all creeks.

In speaking with Deer Lake today, their road building crew are across Duckling Lake and currently working on the portage.

Sandy Lake has pushed through to the junction.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. We also would like to say thank you to the winter road crews who build these roads yearly! We appreciate your hard work and dedication!
