🔥 Tarzan’s Tip of the Day: How to Change Your Furnace Filter 🔥

Changing your furnace filter is one of the easiest things you can do to help keep your heating system running efficiently — but putting it in backwards can restrict airflow and reduce how well it works.

Here’s how to change it correctly:
1 Find your filter.
It’s usually located in the return-air duct near the furnace or inside the furnace’s filter compartment.

2 Check the size BEFORE removing it.
The dimensions are printed along the edge of the old filter. Make sure your replacement is the same size.

3 Look for the airflow arrow. ➡️
This is the important part! The arrow printed on the filter should point in the direction the air travels — TOWARD the furnace/blower.

4 Slide the new filter into place.
Make sure it sits properly in the filter rack without being bent, crushed or forced.

How often should you check it?
We recommend taking a look at your filter about once a month. How often it actually needs replacing depends on the filter, your home, pets, renovations, smoke/dust and how much your system runs.

Easy trick: Write the installation date on the edge of the new filter with a marker. No more wondering, “When did I change this thing?”

A clean filter helps maintain proper airflow, keeps unnecessary dust out of your equipment and can help your furnace do its job without working harder than it needs to.

🚨 Water Heater Safety Tip from Tarzan & Jane Plumbing, Heating & Drain 🚨

This isn't just an old water heater... it's a reminder of why regular maintenance matters.
We recently came across a water heater that had expanded and bulged from excessive pressure. Situations like this can become extremely dangerous if ignored.
Here are a few simple safety tips:
1. If your water heater is leaking, bulging, or making unusual popping or banging noises, have it inspected right away.
2. Never plug or cap the temperature & pressure (T&P) relief valve or its discharge pipe.
3. Make sure the relief valve discharge pipe points safely toward the floor and isn't blocked.
4. If you notice rust, corrosion, or water around the base of the tank, don't ignore it.
5. Most water heaters have a lifespan of 8–12 years. If yours is getting older, it's worth having it checked before it becomes an emergency.
A failing water heater can cause serious water damage—and in rare cases, excessive pressure can turn it into a dangerous hazard.
If you're ever unsure about your water heater, give us a call. We'd rather inspect it early than risk your safety or have it leak.

Trying to teach her young.I did a job for a friend and Vayda was my helper. ( She wants to make some money for her wallet) She insisted we wear our matching work hats which I was game for of course. So I had a friend ask us what Tarzan and Jane's Pet snakes name is and I have to be honest I never actually thought about it but I was thinking... you all could help us and we'll choose our favourite name and that will be our snakes name!
