Another room at our client's Edwardian home in Castor:
We built and installed the coffered ceiling, custom stool & apron window casing, and simple board & batten feature with a cap build up.
Stain is English Chestnut followed by a tinted orange shellac for an antique but polished aesthetic.

Here are some of our favourite wallpapers from last year- lots of floral & botanical patterns. Accent walls are still the most common, but we're starting to see full room installs as well. These add so much character to any space and we always have a blast putting them up!

We have an account now with York Wallcoverings, so we can bring in samples or rolls from their design catalogues as requested.

Most painted doors these days are some kind of white/off-white, but for this project we are excited to be using Benjamin Moore's Night Horizon 2134-10.

Stripping and re-finishing 100 year old casings. We had some opportunities over the summer to tackle challenging projects. This one I almost declined, knowing what we would be in for. In hindsight I'm glad that it worked out, as it was well worth the experience and history lesson we got throughout the process.

Douglas Fir is a part of our heritage on the Canadian prairies. It doesn't grow here, but was available in volume in BC by the time rail lines connected us to the interior. It's strong enough to be used for load bearing applications, but also stains nicely and is easy enough to work with and machine. This meant it could be used for framing components, as well as for the finish carpentry like built-ins, casings, etc.. Sort of an all-in-one species when material options were limited out here.

Thank you to the homeowner here for trusting us to take this on! We hope you can enjoy it for the next 100 years or so.
