Today, Hindsight Mechanical Ltd. pauses to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
For us, today is about more than acknowledgement. It is about listening, learning, understanding, and recognizing the history and experiences of Indigenous Peoples in Canada, including the lasting impacts of the residential school system on survivors, families, and generations that followed.
We are incredibly fortunate to live and work in this part of British Columbia, and we recognize the privilege of carrying out our work within the traditional territories of First Nations throughout our region and beyond.
Through that work, we have been fortunate to build valued relationships with the Lhtako Dene Nation, Nazko First Nation, Stellatβen First Nation, Nuxalk Nation, Lheidli Tβenneh First Nation, and Cheslatta Carrier Nation, among others.
These relationships mean a great deal to us. We have been welcomed into communities, trusted with important projects, and given opportunities to work alongside people we greatly respect.
That trust is something we do not take for granted.
Reconciliation is not something accomplished through a single post or a single day. It requires respect, honesty, listening, understanding, and a willingness to continue learning from the truth of our shared history.
Today, our entire team at Hindsight Mechanical honours the survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and recognizes the families and communities who continue to carry their stories and their legacy.
We are grateful for the relationships we have built, proud to continue strengthening them, and committed to approaching those relationships with respect.
Today we listen.
Today we remember.
Today we honour.
Every Child Matters. π§‘
